UDM joins Manila’s Clean-Up drive

Armed with broom sticks, students of Universidad de Manila (UDM) trooped to Intramuros on Thursday to participate in the city-wide clean-up drive in line with the birthday of City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of UDM deployed approximately 2,500 students to Intramuros as early as 7 am to clean-up sections of the Walled City which it was assigned to.

The students were deployed along the streets of Cabildo, Magallanes, Solana, Arzobispo, Legaspi, Sta. Lucia, Sto. Tomas, Beatiro, Anda, Real, Sta. Potenciana, Victoria and Muralla.

Dianna Babao, a Public Administration student said the activity was fitting as the birthday celebration of the beloved Mayor given his focus on keeping Manila clean and instilling discipline in its residnets when it comes to garbage disposal.

“Magandang pagkakataon ito para sa aming mga kabataan para makatulong din sa pagpapanatili ng kalinisan ng ating kapaligiran,” she said in an interview.

Barangay 655 OIC Chairman Johnny Yhacub said UDM students were a big help in cleaning-up their community and raise the level of environmental awareness among the residents of the barangay.

At the UDM campus, other NSTP students, faculty members and employees did their part in cleaning-up the University campus.
