The SM Store partnered with Universidad de Manila (UDM) for their Tree Planting and Donate-a-Book turnover ceremony on Tuesday, October 25.
A total of 89 herbs composed of basil, coriander, dill, peppermint, and Italian oregano were planted by SM volunteers and UDM representatives at Mehan Garden.
UDM President Dr. Ma. Felma Carlos-Tria expressed her honor to be a part of the environmental campaign.
“We advocate for a community that protects the well-being of people and makes this world a happier and greener place to be in,” Dr. Carlos-Tria said.
“The presence of green in our University Colors says a lot about our inclination to bettering the environment,” she added.
“We are excited that the Universidad de Manila is one of our partner schools for this pioneering employee volunteer program. We also salute our employees from SM Store Manila and SM Store Quiapo who chose to give their time and volunteer today. This is just the start of many Give Back Days in the years to come and SM will remain a platform where employees, customers, and communities come together to give back,” shared SM Retail Vice President for Corporate Communications Cathy S. Ileto.
Employees and customers of SM Manila and SM Quiapo also donated 333 old textbooks and references as well as 1,774 notebooks and other materials to the university.
