UDM Alumnus Conquers Netflix, Theater Stages

“Ganda” of Netflix’ Doll House recently visited Universidad de Manila following his booming career. UDM welcomed its BA in Mass Communication alumnus, Phillip Salvador Palmos known by his screen name Phi Palmos during a flag rising ceremony. 

Phi Palmos’ experience spans from being a theater artist, writer, singer and advocate. From performing in Love Gala: Asia’s Premiere Charity and Awards Gala performing alongside Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, to co-writing Cinema One Originals 2012 hit-comedy Slumber Party, to appearing in a string of hit TV series and award-winning films.

A graduate of Mass Communication from Universidad De Manila, he was part of the award-winning musical, Ang Huling El Bimbo, where he played the lead role of Young Anthony, to critical acclaim, in both its 2019 run, as well as its livestream viewing, where it garnered over 7 million views in 48 hours. He was also part of the original cast of long-running musical phenomenon, Rak of Aegis where he played Jewel. He just recently wrapped up the highly successful return to the stage of the musical. Mula Sa Buwan playing the role of Rosanna.

He was nominated as Best Supporting Actor in the Film Academy of Movie, Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) for his work in the movie Akin Ang Korona and in 2021 won Best Supporting Performance Award in the inaugural Pinoy Rebyu Awards given by The Society of Filipino Film Reviewers for his outstanding work in the movie Kintsugi. Phi is also one of the casts of the now trending worldwide and number 1 in Philippines, Qatar, and UAE, the Netflix Original movie Doll House with Baron Geisler directed by Marla Ancheta.

As an advocate, Phi has traveled to the US, Asia and Europe to talk about and engage in LGBT issues, youth involvement, and HIV and AIDs awareness.
